Countryside River & Vegetation ManagementWorking in association with conservation authorities, private land owners and public sectors bodies such as the Environment Agency, we can help you to oversee the care of river or stream, lake or pond, and CGM can help you maintain the banks and areas close by.Our staff currently carry out work for the Environment Agency, clearing, trimming and caring for areas of vegetation next to rivers running through East Anglia. Using pieces of specialist equipment, such as our remotely operated Deltrak, we can reach inaccessible and potentially hazardous areas. Members of our team have also been trained in river navigation skills (RYA Certificate for Boat Handling) enabling them to operate boats safely so they can reach reed beds and banks via the water. Effective waterways management can include the careful application of herbicides to the water to maintain biodiversity of desirable plants. In many areas, our countryside management brief extends to conservation work, and we always endeavour to work in harmony with the natural surroundings. We may be asked to remove saplings to encourage the establishment of new woodland or to set up wildflower habitats. Our excellent understanding of farming means we are well placed to help farmers and land owners to meet their obligation under the Countryside Stewardship Scheme. We are often asked to assist farmers with the trimming of hedges and roadside verges or to clear footpaths to maintain public access. This countryside management work naturally extends to the erection of fencing, stiles and gates, and even covers litter bins and signage erection if required. We offer the following services:
